MEET THE MAKER
Carl Melegari (born 1958)
Born in Wales, Melegari is primarily interested in the human form, working in oil paint with a palette knife to build his sculptural, often mysterious portraits of unknown subjects. As much about paint and colour as the individuals he depicts, these striking works have a strong psychological narrative that invites onlookers to add their own interpretation, resulting in works that reveal as much about the viewer as those being viewed.
