MEET THE MAKER
Peter Blake (born 1932)
The father of British pop art, Blake is perhaps best known for designing the iconic album cover for The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. His work often combines found objects, composing them in humorous allusions to art history and childhood fantasies. Knighted in 2002, he has stated that he considers 'Hope' to be the most important word in the English language.
